Our Mission

Our mission is to elevate the standard of occupational therapy support being provided to Autistic clients.

Our  Values

Anti-Ableist

People with disabilities should have the same rights and opportunities as those without disabilities.

We are committed to challenging ableist attitudes and beliefs, and to creating a culture that is inclusive and respectful of all individuals, including those with disabilities. We are committed to creating an accessible society that allows for full participation in all aspects of life, regardless of ability.

Neurodiversity-Affirming

Diversity is a source of strength. Different ways of doing things should be valued.

We do not believe that neurodivergence is something that must be β€˜treated’ or β€˜cured.’ Rather, it is more so a different way of thinking, doing, and being with its own unique strengths and challenges. These differences are a vital part of human diversity and they are worth celebrating and supporting. We strive to create inclusive and equitable environments for our clients that accommodates diverse neurological variations.

Community Inclusion

We actively seek and value the perspectives of the community we serve.

We integrate those perspectives into our practice, products, and services to ensure that our approach is responsive and inclusive. Our programming, frameworks, resources, and therapies are either supported by the #ActuallyAutistic community, build off work of Autistic researchers, or have been audited or reviewed by Autistic professionals or individuals.

Safe(r), Trauma-Informed Care

We acknowledge the unique experiences and unrecognized traumas of neurodivergent individuals.

We understand that historical practices and therapeutic spaces have been and continue to be traumatizing for neurodivergent individuals. We understand that many neurodivergent individuals may have experienced social, developmental, emotional, and sensory traumas that go unrecognized, and we strive to create an inclusive and safe environment where these experiences are acknowledged and addressed in our therapeutic approach.

This sometimes means rebuking current evidence-based practices that are widely regarded as harmful or ineffective by the majority of the community (e.g., ABA, Social Skills Training).

Education Empowers

Education is a tool for empowerment.

We believe that through accessible education, individuals can gain a better understanding of themselves and their experiences, and feel validated in their struggles and strengths. We recognize that education is vital in creating inclusive and understanding environments, and in addressing the challenges of The Double Empathy Problem. We are dedicated to providing education that is affordable, practical, and impactful for families. When possible, we try to make education or resources available to reduce the long-term need for ongoing therapy services.

Systems > Goals

Systems make change. Goals don’t.

At our company, we believe that focusing on systems, rather than goals, is the key to achieving positive outcomes for individuals and organizations. We recognize that goals are important, but they are often temporary and narrow in scope. By contrast, systems are ongoing and provide the foundation for long-term growth and success. We therefore place a strong emphasis on building and improving systems within our own organization, the communities we serve, and with our clients. This includes identifying and addressing any systemic barriers that may be preventing people from participating at their full potential. We believe that by focusing on systems, we can create more sustainable and equitable outcomes. This holistic approach allows us to create positive, lasting change and make a meaningful difference in the world.
